About Marisa

Marisa McClinton is a lifelong Ulster County resident and union leader carrying various titles that include Vice president and Assistant council leader. A vice president of the HV Area Labor Federation and leader within the Public Employees Federation, she has dedicated her career to advocating for working families and worker rights.

As a single mother, she understands the real challenges residents face – from rising costs to housing and transportation gaps and has worked to connect her community with vital resources. As a community advocate, Marisa is well versed in practical solutions, person centered leadership, and regional collaboration.

Marisa’s Priorities

Build community with community
Resources are scarce and I want to prioritize developing spaces for the community to grow and connect. Urban development and enhancement shouldn’t be a fight but a workable goal regardless of party affiliation.
Working families matter
Restore and support childcare services to ensure working families are set up to succeed. Restoring and increasing local bus service to ensure working people are supported in their steps towards self sufficiency and self-sustaining. Working families should never be punished because they can’t afford the basics.
Safety is a community investment
Traffic safety is on the minds of many residents and maintains the integrity of our community. One of my priorities is to ensure our roadways are safe for our children to bike on and safe for our residents to walk on. Safe speed limits, walking spaces, and investment into road conditions are at the forefront of my advocacy.
