About Pierrette
As a Social Worker and Therapist, I have strived to improve the lives of others who are impacted by mental health and substance misuse issues, along with the many challenges that are caused by those struggles. I have worked with many Hudson Valley agencies to design and implement community initiatives including the New
Paltz Community Partnership DFC grant, the 21st Century Schools in Rockland County that provides community services in local schools, the first Hudson Valley Drug Treatment Courts and two alternative school programs (Ulster and Orange Counties) for students returning from treatment.
Pierrette’s Priorities
— Affordable and Accessible Housing
There needs to be a plan for sustainable affordable housing that includes a planning for the unhoused to move into permanent housing sooner. The cost of keeping unhoused people in temporary placements has enormous financial, safety and psychological costs. We can and must do better.
— Accessible Healthcare including Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment
— Expand accessibility of employment and social support systems
The residents throughout the county need to be able to utilize the County services. Expanding public transportation, as well as utilizing more local community-based locations would improve the lives of many of our community members.
