Robert Drake
Candidate for Ulster County Legislator, District 22
Includes the Towns of Denning, Hardenburgh, Olive and Shandaken
"I am running to provide a more direct focus on the issues that exist within District 22 and those solutions that can work within the unique environment of the Catskills.”
About Robert
I’m a project management and information technology professional with almost twenty years working with public libraries. That experience formed a baseline of public service that became a term on the Shandaken Town Board as Deputy Supervisor. I’m now seeking to address the challenges of the region more broadly.
Robert’s Priorities
Keeping Families Local
Advocating for the housing choices that will prevent younger and senior residents alike from being priced out.
Rural Models for Rural Areas
Developing better ways of delivering transportation, senior services, and workforce assistance to our area.
Preparing for Natural Disaster
Delivering training, equipment, and communication upgrades before the next flood or forest fire.
Floodproofing Our Residents
Helping residents obtain the flood mitigation grants that will preserve their homes and protect their families.
“The Catskills is dissected into 4+ counties, 2 regional economic development regions, 2 DEC regions, 3 DOT regions. There is no singular person able to represent the Catskills and as a result the issues most important to the Catskills get diluted to the point where seemingly lose their poignancy and voice.”
