About Debra
Debra Gregg Clinton is a lifelong Ulster County resident, fourth-generation Gardiner resident, and former middle school principal with 34 years of public education experience. She holds degrees in secondary education and school administration from SUNY New Paltz and retired as principal of Marlboro Middle School in January 2026.
First elected to the Ulster County Legislature in 2023, Debra represents District 16, including Gardiner and part of Plattekill. She chairs the Law Enforcement & Public Safety and Housing & Transportation Committees and serves on Economic Development, Planning, Education, Employment, Arts & Agriculture. She collaborates with fellow legislators on practical solutions focused on housing, transportation, emergency services, food security, and economic opportunity.
Debra’s Priorities
Affordable Housing and Community Stability
Ulster County needs more housing that working families, seniors, young adults, and people who grew up here can actually afford. I will continue supporting practical housing solutions while protecting the character and quality of life of our communities.
Reliable Transportation for Everyone
Transportation connects people to jobs, education, health care, and essential services. I will continue working to expand reliable public transportation, improve bus infrastructure, and make our roads and transportation systems safer and more accessible.
Stronger Emergency Services
Our communities depend on reliable EMS and public safety services. I will continue supporting sustainable emergency medical services, strong partnerships with local departments, and investments that ensure residents receive help when they need it most.
Food Security and Essential Services
No one in Ulster County should have to choose between paying a bill and putting food on the table. I will continue supporting food pantries, warming centers, and programs that connect residents with the resources they need.
Economic Opportunity and Sustainability
Our county can grow its economy while protecting the places we call home. I will support local businesses, workforce development, green economic opportunities, agriculture, and responsible investments that create opportunity for residents and strengthen our communities.
