Representative in Congress
Members of Congress represent Ulster County in Washington, DC, where they vote on federal laws, budgets, and national priorities while providing constituent services on federal matters in their districts. Every seat in the House of Representatives is up for election every two years, and two districts cover our county, NY-18 and NY-19—one of seven swing districts in the entire nation!
Rep. Pat Ryan (NY-18) and Rep. Josh Riley (NY-19) are endorsed by the Ulster County Democratic Committee (UCDC).

Includes the following Ulster County municipalities: Kingston, Esopus, Gardiner (ED 2-4 only), Lloyd, Marlborough, New Paltz, Plattekill, Saugerties, Ulster, and Woodstock.

Includes the following Ulster County municipalities: Denning, Gardiner (ED 1 only), Hardenburgh, Hurley, Marbletown, Olive, Rochester, Rosendale, Shandaken, Shawangunk, and Wawarsing.

Governor & Lieutenant Governor
The Governor leads New York State’s executive branch, oversees state agencies, proposes the state budget, and sets statewide policy priorities. The Lieutenant Governor supports the Governor’s agenda and helps advocate for communities across New York.
Incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul and her running mate Adrienne Adams are endorsed by the NY State Democratic Committee.

Attorney General
The Attorney General serves as New York’s chief legal officer, enforcing state laws, protecting consumers and workers, and defending civil rights.
Incumbent Attorney General Letitia James is endorsed by the NY State Democratic Committee.

Comptroller
The Comptroller acts as New York’s chief financial officer, auditing government operations, managing public funds, and ensuring fiscal accountability.
Incumbent Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is endorsed by the NY State Democratic Committee.
New York State Legislature

State Senator
State Senators write and vote on state laws, approve the state budget, and advocate for the needs of their districts in Albany. Senators are up for election every 2 years.
Two Senate districts cover our county—District 41 and 51.
Incumbent Senator Michelle Hinchey (District 41) and candidate Michele Frazier (District 51) are endorsed by the UCDC.
District 41 includes the following municipalities in Ulster County: Kingston, Esopus, Hurley, Lloyd, Marlborough, New Paltz, Plattekill, Rosendale, Saugerties, Shandaken, Ulster, and Woodstock.
District 51 includes the following towns in Ulster County: Denning, Gardiner, Hardenburgh, Marbletown, Olive, Rochester, Shawangunk, and Wawarsing.

Member of the Assembly
State Assembly members write and vote on state laws, approve the state budget, and advocate for the needs of their districts in Albany. Assemblymembers are up for election every two years.
Three Assembly districts cover our county—District 101, 103 and 104.
Incumbent Assemblymembers Sarahana Shrestha (District 103) and Jonathan Jacobson (District 104) are endorsed by the UCDC.
District 101 includes the following Ulster County towns: Denning, Rochester, Shandaken, Shawangunk, and Wawarsing.
District 103 includes the following Ulster County municipalities: Kingston, Esopus, Gardiner, Hurley, Marbletown, New Paltz, Olive, Rosendale, Saugerties, Ulster, and Woodstock.
District 104 includes the following Ulster County towns: Lloyd, Marlborough, and Plattekill.
Countywide Government

County Sheriff
The Sheriff is the county’s chief law enforcement officer, overseeing public safety, jail operations, and law enforcement services across Ulster County. The Sheriff sets the tone for how local, state, and federal agencies—including immigration authorities—interact with our communities.
Incumbent Sheriff Juan Figueroa is endorsed by the UCDC.

Surrogate's Court Judge
The Surrogate’s Court Judge presides over matters related to estates, wills, guardianships, and adoptions. Judges serve a term of 10 years.
Judy Nolfo is endorsed by the UCDC.

Ulster County is divided into 23 legislative districts. County Legislators create and vote on local laws and policies, oversee the county budget, and guide county government operations. A legislator looks out for the needs of their constituents, both in the present and toward the future.

Supervisor / Mayor
In addition to acting as chair of the municipal council, the Supervisor/Mayor serves as the town’s budget officer, allocating the annual budget and mediating between interests.

Councilperson / Trustee
Councilpersons/Trustees have law-making power and allocate the budget to run local services like roadway maintenance, transfer stations, and community programs. Multiple seats are often up for election.

Highway Superintendent
Responsible for the maintenance of municipal roadways, supervising workforce, managing budgets, and ensuring road safety, including snow removal and repairs.

Town Justice / City Court Judge
Local judges handle small claims, misdemeanors, violations, and certain felony cases, requiring knowledge of the law and a commitment to fairness.

Town Clerk
The Clerk issues permits, maintains records, transmits local laws, and handles vital records like birth and marriage certificates. In some areas, the Clerk also serves as Tax Collector.

The Tax Collector manages the collection of taxes that support schools, roads, public safety, and other community services.
